[ Higher Education (University ) ] Open Question : Should I do a major minor or double-major?
I'm a college junior majoring in journalism/digital media and I've been enjoying it very much. I have a 3.2 GPA and I'm involved with the student newspaper and student government. My dream job is to write for a women's fashion/lifestyle magazine like "Vogue" or "Glamour" but I worry a lot about the job market being so competitive and low-paying for journalism.
I'm considering doing a double-major in nutrition, which is another area that I'm very passionate about. The problems with this though are that it requires a few math and science classes, which are subjects I tend to perform poorly in and that it'll take me an extra year to graduate. Both majors are very flexible though. I love my university but it's located in my small hometown which I'm pretty eager to get out of. I really want to live in a large city like New York City or Chicago.
The other option is to stick with my journalism major and do a minor in nutrition, but I feel like that won't look as good to potential employers. I don't need to be wealthy, but I need to make enough money to live comfortably in a large city.
