[ Injuries ] Open Question : TBI and Traumatic Optic Neuropathy....My husband was injured over a month ago. He was initially diagnosed?
with Post Concussion Syndrome. He has not gotten any better, in fact has gotten worse. He is confused a lot, has trouble remembering things, and has been diagnosed with Traumatic Optic Neuropathy.
2 Questions are: His eyesight seems to be getting worse. It is getting blurrier and he cannot see at all in the dark now. His initial peripheral vision loss is now "moving" to center vision. The opthamologist had told us that the optic damage was permanent, but can Traumatic Optic Neuropathy progress? We are worried about him losing total sight in that eye.
Another question is because he has had other serious concussions, how can we know what symptoms will be permanent. He has gotten an MRI, EEG and a CT scan which came back normal, but we just did an MRI with Gado. Also, during the "strobe light" test in the EEG he had a physical reaction that I myself saw, and he told me later that his body felt like it was jerkiing and for the next 2 days he was even more confused than usual...but the EEG report came back normal!?!
Im sorry for the long question, we just need some answers and the drs are beating around the bush.
Thank you for reading.
