[ Other - Health ] Open Question : Permanently severed radial artery?

About a year and a half ago, I suffered a catastrophic injury to my right arm that resulted in the severing of every major tendon, the median and radial nerve, and the radial artery. I have regained near full motion in the wrist and digits, and my feeling has been returning at the expected rate. I was lucky enough to keep my ulnar artery intact, but the radial artery was severed, and if I remember correctly it was not repaired during my operation. First off, is this possible or has my recollection completely failed me? Assuming it is possible to keep an intact arm with the radial artery severed, am I at a significantly higher risk for severe infection and potential amputation. Especially given the fact that type 2 diabetes runs in my family, and I smoke hookah occasionally.
