A film nominated for an Academy Award has inspired some inappropriate classroom conduct in Malibu, Calif. Apparently, a teacher at Malibu High School decided to reenact the scene in Bridesmaids when Megan, played by Melissa McCarthy, tries to physically slap sense into Annie, played by Kristen Wiig. While this method of teaching worked well enough for Annie in the movie, it doesn’t go over very well in a public school.
According to the police report, the teacher hit her ninth grade student Dionne Evans in the face six times for forgetting to bring her notebook to class. The girl stood in front of the class, was asked if she’d seen the movie Bridesmaids and then began to slap her several times.
I’m sure this is NOT the message that the stars of the movie were trying to send to people, but it is an interesting interpretation. The teacher wrote and apology, but the family is taking legal action. What other movie scenes have been horribly misconstrued and reenacted in the past? Do you think this teacher should do time for slapping the girl in the face? We want to hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
