Donald Driver now has another super-impressive trophy win to talk about. In addition to winning the Super Bowl in 2011, he can now say his newest team won the mirror ball trophy on Dancing with the Stars! The competition was fierce, but Donald and his partner Peta Murgatroyd weren’t going down without a fight. Last night, they saw all of their effort and hard work rewarded when host Tom Bergeron placed that sparkly trophy in their hands.
It could have been anyone. The other two couples in the running, Katherine Jenkins/Mark Ballas and William Levy/Cheryl Burke actually received higher scores consistently throughout the season. I was pulling for Donald and Peta, but Monday night was the first time the couple received a perfect score all season. The other finalists had been racking up those 30 out of 30’s for weeks! America saw the level of difficulty, spunk, persistence and determination in Donald and Peta and pulled them through right to the end though, and I really think they deserved it!
It is definitely a sad day for Katherine and Mark though. This duo dominated the leaderboard for the majority of the competition, but with talent this fierce the whole thing was entirely unpredictable. The couple seemed to lose the audience for the last few weeks. Where they lost some attention, William and Cheryl seemed to pick even more up, which was tough to believe!
William was obviously a stud. That much was known before he even performed his first dance. I don’t think anyone expected him to be good though. They definitely didn’t expect him to be THAT good! He was always entertaining to watch and seemed to evoke so much feeling into each dance.
Donald and Peta were able to claim this victory, but all of the finalists should be proud of themselves and deserve equal congratulations. They all went above and beyond what anyone could have expected in an area where they had no previous experience. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see them back next season for the all-star round. Top performers and crowd favorites from all of the past seasons will be making a return to the dance floor to fight for the trophy! If you thought this season was fierce you haven’t seen anything yet! While you're waiting to find out who will be breaking it down on the dance floor next season, check out some of the interviews we have with this season's champs!
