DEWeezy Campaign Merges Mountain Dew, Lil' Wayne, and Skateboarding

DEWeezy Campaign Merges Mountain Dew, Lil' Wayne, and Skateboarding

Lil' Wayne has a new passion these days in addition to rapping. While he's suffered a few injuries from the sport, he seems determined to excel at skateboarding. In a new video, he shows off some of his skills, saying, "I promise you, this day next year, I will be, not 10 times better, not 100 times better, not a million times better, but the best." (Watch the video below!)

In the meantime, Weezy has partnered with Mountain Dew to help make his skateboarding dreams come true.

The DEWeezy campaign will include advertisements, public appearances and the creation of a skate park in Lil' Wayne's hometown of New Orleans. There may also be a touring component, as the deal was "anchored in Lil Wayne's touring presence and outside interests including skateboarding and the rebuilding of New Orleans."

More details will be dished this week at SXSW. Can't wait for more Weezy? Check out his new clothing label Trukfit or watch his recent episode of Weezy's Sports Corner! He's becoming a branding behemoth!

"Dancing with the Stars": Who's Leading the Pack After Last Night's Premiere?

It’s finally time to dust off your dancing shoes and get ready to laugh, cry and boogey down with a new season of Dancing with the Stars! The new season premiered last night and the stars are looking pretty impressive. Opera singer Katherine Jenkins, her partner Mark Ballas, former Family Matters star Jaleel White and his partner Kym Johnson are already leading the bunch with high scores of 26 out of 30 for their first performances!

Both Jaleel and Katherine danced the fox trot and got obviously raving reviews from the judges. It’s pretty safe to say that those two celebs aren’t going anywhere next week! Another major crowd pleaser was actor/former model William Levy. He danced with his partner Cheryl Burke to a super-sexy Cha Cha that earned the pair 24 points.

While some stars were great, others weren’t quite as exciting to watch. There was a three-way tie for last place by the end of the night. Gavin DeGraw, Melissa Gilbert and Martina Navratilova all scored a not-bad 20 out of 30. The show will be back on next Monday at 8 p.m. for some more dancing and the first elimination. Who do you think will be the first star sent home? Share your opinion in the comment section below!

Canadian Karen McClintock Contributes to GBK Gifting Suite

Karen McClintock Jewelry

Armed with an arsenal of attractive accessories, Karen McClintock trekked from Ottawa, Canada to Los Angeles, California on an invitation from the GBK Celebrity Gifting Suite. It was Oscars weekend and the jewelry designer knew she was being presented with an amazing opportunity.

"It's a game-changer," said Karen, who is known for pieces made of semi-precious stones, crystals and vintage silver coins. "Being associated with the Oscars in any way gives you credibility. I'm not just a crafter at the craft show in a gymnasium."

As the event began, she found herself a little starstruck by all of the talented actresses she got to meet. A few even told her they would wear some of her designs to pre-Oscars parties!

Penelope Ann Miller, the beautiful star of The Artist, chose a pair of blue teardrop earrings and a stunning champagne coloured ombre necklace, while Teri Polo of Meet The Fockers fame favored a fabulous pair of earrings, put them on right away and talked about them during several of her interviews!

Plus, Damages star Marcia Gay Harden was very excited about Karen's designs and chose a cream pearl calcedony necklace and earrings to wear to a pre-Oscars party that same night!

Karen has already made a name for herself in Canada, where her jewelry has sold at Holt Renfrew for 11 seasons. Her designs have been worn by Prime Minister Stephen Harper's wife Laureen, and by Julie Jacobson, the wife of David Jacobson, the U.S. ambassador to Canada. (Mrs. Jacobson was even wearing a McClintock necklace with vintage U.S. coins when she greeted President Barack Obama at the G8 conference in 2010!)

Check out the Karen McClintock online catalogue to see what all the stars are talking about!

[ Higher Education (University ) ] Open Question : Should I do a major minor or double-major?

I'm a college junior majoring in journalism/digital media and I've been enjoying it very much. I have a 3.2 GPA and I'm involved with the student newspaper and student government. My dream job is to write for a women's fashion/lifestyle magazine like "Vogue" or "Glamour" but I worry a lot about the job market being so competitive and low-paying for journalism. I'm considering doing a double-major in nutrition, which is another area that I'm very passionate about. The problems with this though are that it requires a few math and science classes, which are subjects I tend to perform poorly in and that it'll take me an extra year to graduate. Both majors are very flexible though. I love my university but it's located in my small hometown which I'm pretty eager to get out of. I really want to live in a large city like New York City or Chicago. The other option is to stick with my journalism major and do a minor in nutrition, but I feel like that won't look as good to potential employers. I don't need to be wealthy, but I need to make enough money to live comfortably in a large city.
