There are a lot of different ways to lose weight and get fit, but some people crave the adrenaline rush, heightened heart rate and extreme challenges that come along with P90X. StarCam’s very own Aiden Simko ran into the face of P90X, Tony Horton at the 2011 GO GO Gala, and it looks like a new ridiculous workout will be hitting the market!
Even though P90X is perceived as a super-intense workout, that doesn’t mean it can only be done by athletes. It’s something to motivate people of all different builds with a variety of goals to push themselves and accomplish things they never thought were possible.
“P90X is a little different than a lot of other programs because…I sell it to grandmothers and then I go to the Philadelphia Eagles facility and they’re using P90X, and there’s folks who have 180 pounds to lose and they’re using P90X,” said Tony.
It’s not all blood, sweat and tears though. Tony incorporates his own humor and personality to the program that he says without a doubt works.
“…the program works. It’s called muscle confusion,” he said. “I’ve modernized it. I’ve added humor. I think a lot of trainers take fitness too damn seriously. They treat it like rocket science…”
The 90-day program is about more than just doing the proper movements and committing your time to the workouts. You have to eat right and be consistent. If you’re not doing these two things the results won’t be anything like what you were hoping for. For the people that have that dedication to their fitness, Tony told StarCam there’s something new in the works for you.
“P90X helps you get strong. It helps you get fit. It helps you get better. It helps you lose weight, but P90X2 turns those people into athletes.”
This isn’t just pushups anymore. It’s a whole lot of balance, stability and intense core work. You can expect to be shocked by the challenges that are in P90X2. There’s a move called “The Impossible,” where your hands are on a basketball and your feet are on a stability ball. Safe to say the name fits! As if the world needed a reminder of how fit Tony is, Aiden challenged him to a pushup contest! Needless to say, Aiden lost.
Check out the full interview, complete with a gnarly pushup contest below!
