Sandra Bullock Donates $1 Million to The Red Cross

Celebrities generally lend their voices and influence to raise money for victims of natural disasters and other tragedies. Some will open their own checkbooks and others will launch public service announcements encouraging donations. Others might come up with a gimmick to raise funds too.
Sandra Bullock stepped up in the past with sizable donations to help with the relief efforts after the earthquake in Haiti and rebuilding in New Orleans. Again she has generously opened her own wallet and donated $1 million dollars to the American Red Cross to help with Japanese relief efforts.
While others have made gestures to raise money and encourage donations, Bullock is the first known to actually write a check. Her donation is the largest known celebrity donation made since the 9.0 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis.
Lady Gaga, on the other hand, created the “Japan prayer bracelet”. She first unveiled it to her almost 9 million followers on the social media site Twitter. She has raised almost a quarter of million dollars for the relief efforts.
Blink 182 is running a charity auction on ebay. They are auctioning off memorabilia with proceeds going to the Red Cross.
Our favorite warlock is stepping up too. Charlie Sheen will be donating $1.00 from each ticket sale for his My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option.
Others have gone the traditional route of encouraging fans to text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a$10.00 donation.
