Rob Machado, Kelly Slater to Be Honored at Night By the Ocean

Now in its ninth year, Night By the Ocean will lift spirits and inspire souls as celebrities, athletes and some of the most influential leaders in business, medicine, sports and entertainment gather on Saturday, November 10th at The Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey.

Night by the Ocean is the signature fundraiser for Life Rolls On Foundation and has quickly become one of the most anticipated charity events on the Southern California social calendar. Since its inception, the extraordinary evening has raised more than one million dollars to support quality of life programs for young people affected by spinal cord injury.

This year's event is especially meaningful as Life Rolls On will also commemorate its 10th anniversary as a non-profit organization.

Sal Masekela will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, while surfing legends Rob Machado and Kelly Slater are special honorees. Plus, Ziggy Marley will perform as the musical guest!

There will also be a cocktail reception, elegant seated dinner, incredible silent and live auctions, and touching stories of courage. Tickets are still available for this spectacular evening at the water's edge.

Life Rolls On Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people affected by spinal cord injury and utilizes action sports as a platform for inspiring the infinite possibilities beyond paralysis. In addition to producing unique quality of life programs, LRO fosters spinal cord injury awareness, and offers outreach to individuals and their families at the onset of injury. Though the primary focus is to serve young people affected by spinal cord injury, no individual challenged by mobility is ever turned away and people of all ages are welcome.

British TV You Must See

A number of American shows, such as The Office and Being Human, took their inspiration from British TV. But, there’s a lot of other fantastic British television that never jumped across the Atlantic. Netflix and Hulu, in an attempt to widen their libraries, have added quite a few, which is great news for TV viewers looking for something new. A few that are worth checking out:

Misfits – British sci-fi show Misfits just returned for its fourth season (or series, depending on your side of the pond). A few people have tried describing Misfits as Skins meets X-Men, but, there’s really nothing else on TV like it. Despite changes in cast, the show has maintained its terrific action, unusual moral quandaries, and pitch black humor. It's rumored that a US remake is in the works.

Peep Show – Peep Show has the guts to go really dark when necessary to extract every bit of uncomfortable comedy from what could easily have just been The Hipster Odd Couple. Series 1 through 7 are available on Netflix, and the writers promise that series 8 is coming out any day now, really.

Spaced – this one is required viewing for fans of Simon Pegg projects like Shaun of the Dead and Super Fuzz, as well as anyone who ever was an aimless 20-something. The frenetic camera-work can sometimes be a bit much, but, just go with it.

Wire in the Blood – What if the damaged detective from Monk's mental health issues were handled seriously instead of as qualities that made him a lovable curmudgeon? Then, you would have the atmospheric police procedural Wire in the Blood. A criminal psychologist with issues of his own helps solve crimes by getting into the minds of both killers and their victims.

Being Human – if you’re a fan of supernatural stories, do yourself a favor and check this one out. I’m one of the few people I know who actually likes the U.S. version – I think it does a few things better than the original – but, the UK Being Human has a lot to offer.

Luther – Idris Elba (fans of The Wire will recognize him as Stringer Bell) plays a brilliant but troubled police detective. The show currently has two short seasons – one of six episodes, one of four – and could easily be devoured in a weekend.

Ultraviolet – Tired of sparkly vampires who pine after their food like sulky teenagers instead of eating it like proper monsters? In this short British series, vampire hunting gets an extra modern twist with high powered rifles that shoot carbon bullets replacing stakes and crosses. Treats involve Idris Elba as the leader of an anti-vampire squad.

[ Other - Family & Relationships ] Open Question : What do I do?! help needed inmediately!?

i literally remember him from the first day of kindergarden. In first grade I had a crush on him along with 2nd and third. I didn't fall IN LOVE with him until 5th grade. I remember the exact day. We talked all the time and were friends. We actually used to like fight haha. I was so in love with him. Girls that used to sit next to us would always tease us for liking eachother. One random day in class he blurted out "I like you" but the teacher called the classes attention and it was never ever spoken of again. I was super shy about the whole openly liking people thing. So I just let it be and never brought it back up. The next year I was still in love. We started talking less and less because I started my super shy and SUPER awkward stage. I had this stage 6-8th grade and it was awful. He would still talk to me randomly in the hallways though. In 8th grade I unintentionally blew him off because I was soooo quiet and didn't know how to respond. Puberty sucks. Anyway, now I'm a year older and I've finally grew out of that super shy awkward stage. I'm still quiet though. Everytime I walk past him we make eye contact, everytime one of us walk into a classroom we find eachother over everyone else. At first I thought it was because I was unintentionally staring at him (lol) so this week I've been putting it to the test. I avoided eye contact but I can still see him looking at me out of the corner of my eye. A few weeks ago we got new seats in a class we have together and I noticed him looking all around and then suddenly he looked at me and went back to his work like he found me. He has a girlfriend. She's gorgeous and really nice. I know nothing about there relationship except for I hear him complain about her to his friends sometimes. I'm lost. Please help me. Thank you for reading this entire thing :)
