Amy Winehouse, 27, Found Dead in London Apartment

Pop singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in a North London apartment on Saturday afternoon, police sources report. She was 27 years old.
The star had last spoken to her security team at 10am on Saturday, and she was found at 4pm. Police fear that Winehouse may have been dead for up to six hours before her body was discovered.
Winehouse had apparently been regularly seeing her doctor, to keep tabs on her battle with drug and alcohol addiction. She had reportedly seen her doctor Friday night. A source says, “The doctor was happy with her condition. When he left on Friday night he had no concerns. Less than 24 hours later she was found dead.”
The cause of death is so far being marked as “unexplained,” but speculation across the board points to a potential overdose. The singer very publicly battled drug addiction, alcoholism, and most recently cancelled a tour in order to get a grasp on her situation. However, a source says that “there were no empty bottles, syringes, crack pipes or anything like that” at the apartment.
Friends of Winehouse’s say that her most recent relapse in her battle with addiction came after splitting with her boyfriend, film director Reg Traviss. Sources say he “could no longer cope with her drinking following a series of blackouts.”
Winehouse rose to fame in 2006 with the release of Back to Black. She won five Grammys in 2008 for the record and its songs. During her career, she received 58 nominations and 23 awards in total.
