Jay-Z And Beyonce Spend $1 Million A Year On A Nursery That Blue Ivy Carter Sometimes Spends Time In

When normal people go to see a basketball game at a stadium, they usually leave their kid with a $10/an hour teenage babysitter or if they're a Lohan, they leave their kid in the backseat of the car with a bottle full of gin. But when the duke and duchess of the one percent, Jay-Z and Beyonce, go to Brooklyn's Barclays Center, which he owns less than 0.2% of, they drop Blue Ivy Carter and her team of nannies in a luxury nursery that they pay over $83,000 a month for. MONEY: Jay-Z and Beyonce like wasting it!

A source tells UsWeekly that Barclays rents out 11 private suites and, of course, Jay-Z's cost the most. When Blue Ivy Carter isn't slobbering on the walls of Jay-Z's private suite, he lets his friends use it. The source said this mess of words:

"Jay rents a luxurious basement suite for $1 million a year. It has an area for Blue filled with toys. It's all glass with a champagne bar and TV screen. Jay lets friends use his digs when he's not there."

Oh okay, so Blue Ivy Carter's nursery is just in an "area" of Jay-Z's suite. Let's say Blue Ivy Carter's private space takes up 25% of the suite, that's around $20,000 a month for a nursery space that she sometimes sits in every now and again. Jay-Z and Beyonce spending that much money on BIC's sometime nursery makes sense, because studies show that little babies are so much happier and healthier when they're sitting in luxury spaces!

If I went to BIC's luxurious nursery at Barclays and asked her if she's happy, she'd stop playing with her rattle carved out of a giant diamond and say to me, "Googoojiggablahblahsingladiesgaggadrooooool."

If I went to the playpen in the kitchen that my cousin's baby plays in and asked her if she's happy, she'd stop playing with her plastic blocks from The Dollar Tree and say to me, "Googoojiggablahblahsingladiesgaggadrooooool."

See, haterz, THE FACTS DON'T LIE!

"The Hobbit" Still Number One at the Box Office

Despite the release of three new films, Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit is still number one at the box office. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey earned $31.9 million over the holiday weekend, bringing its box office reign to three straight weeks.

“I think it's just a big epic that feels like a great way to end the movie-going year,” mused Hollywood.com analyst Paul Dergarabedian. “There's momentum there with this movie."

Second place goes to Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained which enjoyed a weekend debut of $30 million. Starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, and Samuel L. Jackson., Django Unchained is a Western drama about a freed slave on a quest to claim his wife from a cruel plantation owner.

Musical Les Misérables, meanwhile, debuted at number three with a box office take of $27.2 million. Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried star in the epic film based on a French novel penned in 1862.

A third new release, Parental Guidance, came in at number three with weekend earnings of $14.5 million. Starring Billy Crystal, Bette Midler, Marisa Tomei, and Tom Everett Scott, Parental Guidance is a family comedy about generational differences.

Jack Reacher rounds out the list of top five box office earners with a weekend gross of $14 million. Other films in the top ten include This is 40 ($12.5 million), Lincoln ($7.3 million), The Guilt Trip ($6.7 million), Monsters, Inc. 3D ($6.4 million), and Rise of the Guardians ($4.9 million).

The first major releases in 2013 include Texas Chainsaw 3D and A Dark Truth. Will either of the newcomers take down the current box office leaders? Check back next week to find out!

PETA Names Anjelica Huston its 2012 Person of the Year

Anjelica Huston

From speaking out against fur farms and horse-drawn carriage companies to great apes being used in commercials, actress and activist Anjelica Huston has been busy this past year. She's a strong supporter of keeping animals in their natural habitats with their families and PETA is recognizing her volunteer work by naming her its 2012 Person of the Year.

While her commitment to the ethical treatment of animals began many years ago, it was her video about how great apes suffer in the entertainment industry that really made an impact. Thanks to her video (watch it below!), all of the top 10 advertising agencies in the United States have now adopted policies stating that they will not use chimpanzees and other great apes in their commercials.

She also supports a bill that would phase out New York City's archaic horse-drawn carriage industry. She evens promotes animal welfare in other countries, sending a letter to the Irish government urging the country to honor its commitment to ban fur farms.

"I grew up in Ireland and used to wear fur," Huston wrote. "I had a change of heart when I learned how minks and foxes on fur farms are crammed into tiny, dirty cages and driven so crazy by the confinement that many... cannibalize their cage mates."

Previous PETA Persons of the Year include Bill Clinton, Ellen DeGeneres, and Russell Simmons.

Maggie Gyllenhaal Joins Cast of "Frank"

Maggie Gyllenhaal has signed onto the cast of Frank, which will be directed by Lenny Abrahamson. She joins a cast that already features  Michael Fassbender, Scoot McNairy, and Domhnall Gleeson. Production of the movie is set to start later this week in New Mexico, but filming will move to Ireland at the end of January.

The movie also stars French actor Francois Civil and musician Carla Aza, who most recently drummed for Jack White's album Blunderbuss. It's a comedy about a young aspiring musician, Jon, who joins a band of pop musicians led by Frank (Fassbender) and his "terrifying sidekick," who will be played by Gyllenhaal.

The film was written by Jon Ronson and is based on a memoir he wrote, but is a fictional story loosely inspired by Frank Sidebottom as well as other musicials like Daniel Johnston and Captain Beefheart.

Ed Guiney of Element Pictures, David Barron, and Runaway Fridge's Stevie Lee will produce, while Tessa Ross, Katherine Butler, and Andrew Lowe will executive produce.
Frank was developed by Film4 and is being financed by them as well, along with the British Film Institute and the Irish Film Board.
