It's old news that Alec Baldwin has joked (or not joked?) about running for office in the future, but now, the latest celeb to be tied to political rumors is Ben Affleck. However, the star says he has no intentions of running for office.
He wrote on Facebook on December 24 to shoot down rumors that he would run for the Massachusetts senate seat that will soon be left vacant by John Kerry. Kerry, of course, has been nominated by Barack Obama to replace Hilary Rodham Cinton as Secretary of State.
Still, Affleck says he's more interested in other endeavors, including filmmaking.
"I love Massachusetts and our political process, but I am not running for office. Right now it's a privilege to spend my time working with Eastern Congo Initiative, supporting our veterans, drawing attention to the great many who go home in the U.S. every day and using filmmaking to entertain and foster our discussion about issues like our relationship to Iran," he wrote.
The speculation came from an interview Affleck did with Meet the Press this past weekend, but the actor won't be setting up camp in congress anytime soon.
"We are about to get a great Secretary of State and there are some phenomenal candidates in Massachusetts for his Senate seat. I look forward to an amazing campaign," the post continued. "Happy Holidays to All," he finished.
