CinemaCon Honors Jeremy Renner with ?Male Star of the Year? Award

The CinemaCon honors keep on coming! This week the official convention of The National Association of Theatre Owners announced that it will honor Jeremy Renner with the 2012 “Male Star of the Year Award.”
“With his quiet and explosive intensity, Jeremy Renner has been entertaining audiences for a long time,” CinemaCon’s Mitch Neuhaser said in a statement. “However, it was his incredible performance in the Academy Award-winning The Hurt Locker that truly catapulted him into the public eye as one of our most talented and gifted actors today and audiences everywhere can’t wait to see him take on the lead in The Bourne Legacy. We are so pleased to be honoring such a deserving actor.”
Renner will be honored at the “CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards” in Las Vegas on April 26. Ryan Reynolds took home last year’s “Male Star of the Year” Award.
Renner next stars in The Avengers, the star-studded superhero film set to hit theatres May 4. Other films on Jeremy’s horizon include The Bourne Legacy, Low Life, and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.
An actor and musician, Jeremy has starred or appeared in a number of movies and television shows, though it was his performance in 2009’s The Hurt Locker that got him the most recognition. The then 38-year-old actor was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the film. Renner’s resume also includes such films as S.W.A.T., 28 Weeks Later, The Town, and Thor.
