?Columbo? Star Peter Falk Dies at Age 83

Peter Falk, the Emmy-winning star of Columbo, has passed away. A family spokesperson confirmed that Falk, 83, died last night, June 23.
Falk was best known to audiences as Lt. Columbo on the police TV series. He was also known for his film work, though, having been nominated for two Academy Awards. He was nominated in 1960 for Murder, Inc. and in 1961 for Pocketful of Miracles. His last credited film role was in 2009, for the film American Cowslip, alongside Cloris Leachman and Diane Ladd.
Falk fell ill after a surgical procedure in 2009, at which point his wife, Shera Danese Falk, released a statement on PeterFalk.com and placed the website on hiatus.
Falk suffered from dementia late in his life, and he reportedly could not recall acting as Columbo.
He is surived by his wife as well as two adopted daughters, Jackie and Catherine.
