?Dexter? Creator to Direct Michael C. Hall, Vera Farmiga in ?Love, Scotch and Death"

Michael C. Hall in "Love Scotch and Death"

Dexter creator James Manos Jr. and Michael C. Hall will be collaborating on the big screen soon, right after Hall wraps the sixth season of the likable-serial-killer drama. The pair are teaming up on an independent film called Love, Scotch and Death, and Hall will be playing a character based on Manos himself – during a most stressful week filled with “unimaginable mishaps.”

Vera Farmiga will star alongside Hall. It will be Manos’ directorial debut, and it will begin shooting in November.

When Manos first wrote the script, it was called The Slow and Complete Decompensation of Jim Manos. The film (and script, naturally) follow a rather bizarre week in the man’s life – after returning from a stressful vacation, he discovered his parents have died of natural causes together in bed. This forces him to navigate his way past an unsympathetic funeral director (funnily enough, another character Hall has played before!), his bewildered children and manic wife, an eccentric priest and over-sexed neighbors. In the meantime, there is also an arrest for assault and the death of his wife’s beloved dog. Sounds like a tough week!

Manos has won Emmys for his writing on The Sopranos, and also wrote for The Shield before creating Dexter for Showtime.

HSI will finance the film and sell territories at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
