Doctor Who Series 7 - New Trailer and More!

It seems like I'm perpetually waiting for my favorite shows to come back on the air. Arrested Development has been a long haul, and don't even get me started on Sherlock. However my wait for the new season of Doctor Who is drawing to a close, a fact made very clear by the release of the first full trailer and poster. Click through for the trailer and plenty of speculation.

Here's what the BBC has to say about the poster:

"The image shows Amy Pond being carried by an injured, grim-faced Doctor. They’re both surrounded by Daleks that have been encountered during different eras of the Time Lord’s travels. A Dalek on the right of the picture does not have any of the vertical grille-like slats that have become a familiar feature, indicating it’s a version the Doctor faced when he first met his oldest enemies on Skaro. And on the left there’s a Special Weapons Dalek, last seen in the 1988 story, Remembrance of the Daleks."

Old Daleks? We knew this was going to happen, but their prominence in the poster just reinforces my thought that something is going to reopen the Time War and all hell is going to break loose.

Enough of that, though - here's the trailer (with more thoughts after):

First things first: Today I learned that there is nothing creepier than a Baby Weeping Angel. Secondly, riding dinosaurs is cool.

Now, did you catch what the Doctor said about honoring victims? "Today I honor victims first. His, the Master's, the Daleks'. All the people who have died because of my mercy." Who is the 'He' he refers to? Is the Master back in action? If the Time War reopens it would only make sense for him to be. What's a 50th anniversary without the Master?

The really fun question comes from the final lines of the trailer. Who do you think killed all the Daleks? We know the Doctor's done it before, but any of the Ponds are more than capable of being responsible as well. Speaking of, I personally would have liked to see more of River. C'est la vie.

It all boils down to what promises to be the biggest blowout we've seen in Who history, and let's keep in mind that Season 6 started with the death of the Doctor – so that's saying something. In the words of Amy Pond, "Scared? Who's scared? Geronimo!"
