Foo Fighters: ?You Shouldn?t Have to Do ?Glee??

It seems as though artists everywhere are torn between sides of the Glee battle: whether or not to allow their songs on the show. And while some artists welcome the attention, others, like Kings of Leon have made it spectacularly clear that they want nothing to do with the show. Now, we can add the Foo Fighters to that list of bands not interested in making an appearance, as frontman Dave Grohl explains.
“It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f*cking Glee,” he said. “And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f*cking show…f*ck that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.
Grohl does have a point. When Kings of Leon declined to allow their songs to be used on the show, Glee creator Ryan Murphy launched a very public assault on the band, criticizing them for not allowing the show to use their material. He also attacked Guns n’ Roses’ Slash. After the show approached Slash to get permission for using Guns n’ Roses songs, Slash reportedly said, “I hate f*cking musicals. It’s worse than Grease.” Murphy retorted by alluding to the idea that Slash was a “washed up ol’ rock star,” and declining a Glee appearance is “what they f*cking do.”
Says Foo Fighters’ drummer, Taylor Hawkins, “It’s just like, Dude, maybe not everyone loves Glee. Me included.”
