"Furious Love" Tells The Love Story Of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

If it wasn’t for Elizabeth Taylor’s tawdry affairs we may never have developed an interest in the personal lives of celebrities. Her most famous and legendary love affair will be told on the silver screen.

The book Furious Love written by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger, tells the story of Taylor’s great affair and two marriages to Richard Burton. It has been picked up by Paramount Pictures for Martin Scorese to direct.

The couple met on the set of the disastrous film Cleopatra. They were both married at the time when they began their affair. Their romance captured the imagination of the public. They would marry and divorce twice. They did not marry a third time but did remain each other’s greatest loves.

It’s been reported that Burton’s estate is on board with the project. They have offered resources and made video available. Paramount is hoping to get Taylor’s estate to sign off for it too.

Scorcese has tackled Hollywood royalty in the past. The most recent was the Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator. He is also helming the Frank Sinatra biopic scheduled for release in 2013 as well as directing the movie Silence. It’s not too clear where Furious Love will fit into his schedule.
