?G.I. Joe: Retaliation? Release Delayed Until 2013

Bad news for G.I. Joe fans. G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, has been pushed back nine months.
The sequel was due to hit theaters June 29. However, Paramount Pictures decided to delay the release until March 29, 2013 in order to adapt G.I. Joe 2 for 3D. The decision comes after Battleship, another Hasbro flick, took a walloping by Marvel’s The Avengers last weekend. Apparently, Paramount believes the extra revenue generated from 3D sales is worth the delay, despite having spent millions of dollars promoting the June 29 release, including laying down a big chunk of change for a Superbowl commercial.
“We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can do better box office internationally,” a studio exec told Deadline.com. “Jim Cameron did all of Titanic’s 3D in post – and look how well that movie turned out.”
