Glen Campbell Says Goodbye with Final Album, Tour

Country legend Glen Campbell, the original "Rhinestone Cowboy", recently revealed that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease six months ago. But rather than put down the guitar and call it quits, the 75-year-old is releasing one last album and going on one last tour.
Despite several years of struggling with short term memory loss, Campbell says, "I still love making music and I still love performing for my fans. I'd like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin."

His album Ghost on the Canvas will be available August 30th and features songs written by Paul Westerberg and Guided By Voices frontman Robert Pollard. There are also guest appearances from Billy Corgan, the Dandy Warhols, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, and surf guitar originator Dick Dale.
"The Glen Campbell Goodbye Tour" will follow this fall, but no dates have been announced yet.
Campbell and his wife Kim decided to talk about his illness now so tour attendees wouldn't worry or speculate.
"Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer," Kim said. "But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn't want people to think, 'What's the matter with him? Is he drunk?'" said Kim.
