James Lewis, The Stuttering Rapper, to Revive Hip Hop as an Art Form

James Lewis

Some say hip hop has been humdrum since the 90s but James Lewis hopes to hype it back up. "The world has forgotten that it's an art," the aspiring rapper says, so he's determined "to make a change in what people think about hip hop music."

Listening to his EP Who Am I, you'd never know James suffers from a speech impediment. He's becoming known as "The Stuttering Rapper," and while he was once too embarrassed to talk about it, he now wants to "give other people with the same condition some hope and motivation."

Another thing that makes James stand out from other rising rappers is his average name. Without a crazy alias or ridiculous spelling, his crusade for credibility is taken more seriously. He thinks he stands out because of his honesty.

"I can personally say, that I give you all of me! There’s things in my [lyrics] I have never told anyone, and that is where I think a lot of "hip-hop" artist lack... honesty!" James exclaims.

While he's not signed to a record label right now, he is a member of Bath Dub Sounds, an independent group of artists and producers from around the world who specialize in different types of music including dub step and hip hop.

With deeply passionate lyrics and a smooth rapping style, James Lewis has big plans for the future and he's all about getting feedback from his fans. Check out his mini music video for "F.A.M.E. (Finally At My Escape)" below and download his Who Am I EP for free!
