Jeffrey Tambor: ?Arrested Development? Movie is Being Written

We’ve all been waiting not-so-patiently for it, and after years of wishy-washy “maybes,” (or Maebys), Arrested Development may finally be on its way to the silver screen.  Jeffrey Tambor, who played George Bluth Sr. on the show, said, “I think what’s coming down is, certainly, the negotiation over my trailer is what is stopping people.”

But, it turns out, the Bluth family will be reunited after all! “It’s all going straight, everyone’s on board, I know they’re writing, and maybe this time next year we’ll be having this conversation,” Tambor said.

This means that the crew of Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Portia De Rossi, Michael Cera, David Cross, Alia Shawkat, and Tony Hale, will make a triumphant return for the first time since FOX cancelled Arrested Development in 2006. Since its cancellation, it’s attracted a cult-like fan base and has gone on to sell massive amounts of DVDs. Tambor’s confirmation follows creator/producer Mitch Hurwitz’s half-hearted promises in February of an AD movie.

“I don’t like to toy with the affections of our fans,” Hurwitz said. “They’ve been so supportive and we’re so grateful, so I kind of hate to answer the questions until I can say, ‘Yep, we’ve shot it, it opens next week.’ Otherwise it feels like we’re toying with people and we do not mean to do that. It has just taken a while to get it going.”
