?Jersey Shore? Filming Delayed After Italian Permits Revoked

Italy revokes "Jersey Shore" permits

UPDATE: The news about revoked permits turned out to be false -- a network rep clarified, saying that production was being delayed because the President of Italy is currently visiting. "Production on Jersey Shore will begin this week, following the Italian presidential visit to Florence.  In the ongoing spirit of cooperation, we're waiting until his official visit concludes to start filming," the rep said.

MTV’s Jersey Shore was supposed to begin filming in Italy this week for its next season, but production has been delayed again, due to logistical problems. This is just the latest in Shore drama that leads me to believe that perhaps “Italy Shore” shouldn’t happen at all.

The city of Florence has officially revoked the show’s permits to film at several historical landmarks, including the Uffizi gallery and Palazzo Vecchio.

Several cast members, including Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, and Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio were filmed at the airport alast week, bags packed and ready to roll – but MTV has since told them to wait until the show figures out a plan. I can’t be the only one who chuckled that “Paul DelVecchio” won’t be allowed to appear on film at Palazzo Vecchio…right?

This is just the latest speed bump for the producers – problems began last month when several cast members held out for big raises, which delayed their trip the first time. Then, Italian citizens weren’t happy that the show would be filming on their home soil, which led to the mayor of Florence releasing a list of rules for the stars of the show – including no filming in bars, and no drinking in public.

It’s beginning to look dark for the next season of Jersey Shore. Perhaps they should have just stayed home?
