Josh Hutcherson to Receive CinemaCon ?Breakthrough Performer of the Year? Award

Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson is the latest celeb to be honored by CinemaCon, the official convention of The National Association of Theatre Owners. The 19-year-old actor will receive CinemaCon’s “Breakthrough Performer of the Year” Award.

“With an already impressive resume of films under his belt, Hutcherson is one of the most accomplished young actors of his time,” Mitch Neuhauser, managing director of CinemaCon, said in a statement. “With the release of The Hunger Games, Hutcherson is poised to take the movie world by storm, and we could not be more excited to present such a talented young actor with the ‘CinemaCon Breakthrough Performer of the Year Award.’”

Hutcherson will be honored at the CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards in Las Vegas on April 26th.

Hutcherson plays Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games, a dystopian film about children and teens that must fight to the death on live television. Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson also star in the Hollywood blockbuster.

Born in Union, Kentucky, Josh Hutcherson has starred or appeared in such films as Little Manhattan (Gabe), RV (Carl), Journey to the Center of the Earth and sequel Journey 2: Mysterious Island (Sean), and The Kids Are All Right (Laser). Fans can next catch the talented Hutcherson in the Red Dawn remake and Carmel.
