Maria Menounos to Partner with Derek Hough on "Dancing with the Stars"

Maria Menounos is another celebrity who will be dancing her heart out on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. The Extra correspondent, who also works on Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers, will be paired with world champion dancer Derek Hough.

“I never thought in a million years I’d be here doing this,” Menounos, 33, told the Boston Herald. “I was a fan of the show but I never ever would have done it. I’m terrified of dancing because it’s something completely foreign to me.”

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Maria got her start in television by working as a reporter for Channel One News. The talented journalist went on to work for Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood in addition to trying her hand at acting. Menounos has starred or appeared in a number of television shows, including Without a Trace, One Tree Hill, Scrubs, and Entourage. She now co-hosts Extra with Mario Lopez, where she recently appeared in Times Square in a bikini after losing a Super Bowl bet.

Derek Hough, a four-time DTWS champion, is thrilled to be partnered with the lovely and talented Maria Menounos.

“She’s great, beautiful, stunning, fit, in shape, and most of all fun,” Derek said. “For me that’s really important. If you’re going to be with someone for a long period of time you want somebody fun. I’m excited because I can tell this is going to be a very bright season.”

Season 14 of Dancing with the Stars premieres on March 19.

StarCam caught up with Maria at the Mary Kay Inspiring Stories event last October. Check out the interview below to learn how Menounos is working to help women who have been affected by domestic violence.
