Matt Lanter on a New "90210" Romance, "A Chance of Rain" and the Importance of Giving Back to Charities
Matt Lanter is known for his unbelievable abs on the hit CW series 90210, after the beginning of this season left billboards of his sexy bod plastered around Los Angeles. There might be something else catching attention on the show soon though. I think there's a subtle scent of romance in the air!
"For my character, I've got a huge new romance with one of the other regular girls," said Matt. "It's a new romance. I don't think anyone really saw this coming, so it's kind of exciting for everybody and for both of us involved. It's kind of fun."
Since he's already dated Annie (Shenae Grimes), it's safe to say that it's going to be Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord), Ivy (Gillian Zinser), Silver (Jessica Stroup) or Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) but all of them have serious drama going on in their love lives. This could definitely be a crazy twist at the end of Season 4!
In addition to his role on the hit TV series, Matt just wrapped a new film, A Chance of Rain, about the water issues they're having in Africa right now. He plays a water activist named Eric who goes through a major mental, physical and emotional transformation. Matt said the movie is dramatic and kind of gritty. They actually filmed in Africa, which gave him an entirely new perspective on the troubles that people are facing.
"It's very scary to see?we were right there in some of the villages where they don't have clean water and it's intense," Matt explained. "You kind of always see it on TV, but you don't really get the perspective until you're right there and it's in front of your face and you're seeing these thirsty, starving people. It really opens your eyes to what's really going on in the world."
Giving back is something that is incredibly important to Matt. He wants to use his fame and spotlight to draw some attention to causes that really need support. This issue is one of the many that he would like to help.
"I think it's always good to give back, especially people who are public people who have a name value?to help raise awareness to any kind of charity like that," he said. "I think it's a good thing and I think that I've been put in a pretty incredible spot and like I would like to give back in any way that I can."
