Melissa Etheridge Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge was honored Tuesday afternoon (September 27) with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Grammy and Oscar-winning performer, a breast cancer survivor, was thrilled to receive the honor.
"You can have a dream, you can grow up in a small mid-western town and believe and desire and create a life and end up with your star in the Walk of Fame in Hollywood Boulevard," Etheridge said at yesterday’s unveiling ceremony, held in front of the Hard Rock Café Hollywood.
Etheridge’s star is the 2,450th plaque to appear on the Walk of Fame. Hard Rock Café Hollywood declared September 27 Melissa Etheridge Day with the unveiling ceremony marking the official start of ther restaurant chain’s Pinktober campaign.
"My life has been blessed, completely blessed,” said Etheridge. “It's been an unbelievable journey and it continues to be an amazing journey. Believe in your dreams, my friends, believe, because they do come true and they're beautiful."
Melissa Etheridge, 50, is perhaps best known for her songs “Come to My Window” and “I’m the Only One.” Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, Melissa has been a Pinktober ambassador for six years and is also an activist for gay and lesbian rights.
