Natalee Holloway Movie Sequel, Reality Series to Air On Lifetime

It’s been nearly six years since Alabama teen Natalee Holloway disappeared during a class trip to Aruba, but her story won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Deadline reports that Lifetime has greenlit Justice for Natalee Holloway, a sequel to the 2009 hit television movie Natalee Holloway, and Vanished With Beth Holloway, a 10-episode reality show starring Natalee’s mother.
Set several years after the first Natalee film, Justice for Natalee Holloway will chronicle Beth Holloway’s attempts to learn what happened to her daughter and the false clues provided by Natalee’s suspected killer, Joran van der Sloot. When van der Sloot demands $250,000 to reveal the location of Natalee’s body, Beth and her attorney begin building a case with the help of the FBI. However, the suspected Dutch killer is arrested in Peru for killing another young woman before the case gets very far.
Tracy Pollan, who played Beth Holloway in Natalee, will again star as the grieving, yet determined mother, while newcomer Stephen Amell will play the role of van der Sloot. Scott Cohen will play Holloway’s attorney John Kelly, and Grant Show will reprise his role as Jug Twitty, Beth’s husband and Natalee’s step-father.
In the new reality series, Vanished With Beth Holloway, Natalee’s mother will interview real-life families who have suffered a terrible loss as a result of a crime and provide guidance and support to grieving family members who are presumably searching for a lost loved one.
No word on when the new movie or reality series will air. Judging from the comments on the Deadline article, more than a few people are disgusted with Lifetime and Beth Holloway for “exploiting” the death of Natalee and ignoring the disappearance of thousands of other young men and women. What do you think?
