NBC Passes on ?Wonder Woman?

Wonder Woman pilot rejected by NBC

If you were excited about the possibility of a Wonder Woman TV series, you’ll have to wait for awhile – NBC has rejected the much-buzzed-about Wonder Woman pilot from David E. Kelley and Warner Bros. TV.

Kelley had written a script that updated the comic book classic, to have Diana Prince as the CEO of a major conglomerate by day, and a butt-kicking Amazon by night. Kelley’s take asked for lot’s of heart-pounding, intense contemporary music, and at one point, he even requested a commercial-free premiere for the pilot – if it aired.

NBC hasn’t issued a reason yet, but it’s thought that the pilot earned mixed reviews at test screenings. Futher, there was backlash about the new costume, which not only “de-emphasized the patriotism and played up the comic’s Greek mythology,” but also sexed-up Wonder Woman, with a tube top and tight pants.

It’s a let down for fans and Adrianne Palicki, the Friday Night Lights star that had been picked for the leading role. Though it’s possible that the show may be picked up by another network, it’s not likely – many stations would not want to take the gamble on a show that big-shot NBC shot down.
