Neil Diamond Honored with Walk of Fame Star

Neil Diamond is the latest celebrity to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 71-year-old singer was thrilled by the honor and the welcome he received from The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

"This is probably the most fun," Diamond said after Friday’s unveiling ceremony. "I didn't have to campaign for it. They wanted me. They opened their arms and took me in, and that makes it all the better."

Neil’s star is the 2,475th plaque to appear on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Neil’s wife, Katie, joined him at the ceremony, held in front of L.A.’s iconic Capital Record Building, as did a few of the musician’s closest friends.

"He is one of those people, rare in entertainment, who America loves," said renowned composer Randy Newman. “There have been less than 10 in the century, people like Bing Crosby and Judy Garland.”

With a career spanning over five decades, Neil Diamond has sold over 125 million albums worldwide and has been inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Diamond has penned such hits as “Sweet Caroline,” “Cracklin Rosie,” “Song Sung Blue,” and “Red Red Wine,” among others. The Grammy-winning singer is currently on tour.
