One Direction Versus The Wanted: Who Wins?

Rumor has it that a not entirely cordial rivalry is developing between Brit boy bands One Direction and The Wanted. Because of the similarities between the groups, and the fact that their popularity has grown at the same pace, it’s understandable. So, which one comes out on top? We endeavor to solve this burning question utilizing a variety of metrics:
Laid end to end, which band would stretch the farthest?
Each band has five members, making this, going in, a fair fight. The One Direction boys are a bit on the slight side, with none over six feet. (For those curious, their measurements are: Harry: 5’10”, Liam: 5’10”, Louis: 5’9” Niall: 5’7”, Zayn: : 5’9”). The Wanted definitely have the edge here, with two members who are 6’1” (Siva and Jay), one who is 5’8” (Max), one 5’9” (Nathan), and one 5’ 10” member (Tom). Taken collectively, there are eight more inches of The Wanted members for fans to enjoy.
Advantage: The Wanted
Number of Twitter Followers
One Direction (or, 1D, as they are known in the Twitterverse) spanks the competition in this regard. While The Wanted’s one million followers is impressive, it can’t compare with One Direction’s six million strong following.
Advantage: One Direction
Most Obsessive Twitter Fans
The Wanted’s fans post plenty of love for their guys. One Direction’s fans are a bit more adamant about their adoration. Very adamant.
Advantage(?): One Direction
Best Dancers
Judging by their videos, the guys in neither band can dance all that well. The best viewers can get is a sort of enthusiastic bopping to the music while they sing.
Advantage: N Sync (write in candidate)
Hottest Members
Even though they are all over 18, it still feels a little creepy for me to ponder too long on whether One Direction or The Wanted had the cutest band members. So, I decided, instead, to ask my thirteen and fifteen year old daughters. Both girls are of the opinion that while the members of both groups have stupid hair, One Direction’s hair is stupider.
Advantage: The Wanted
In the end, there are strong indicators for either side. We'll revisit the issue later when we've accrued more data.
