"Paranormal Activity 4": 4 Questions the Trailers Raise

This week brought the release of two trailers for Paranormal Activity 4, an extended version and an alternate trailer called “What Really Happened?” Check them both out below.
Though the makers of Paranormal Activity 4 aren’t talking about the film’s plot, the trailers do offer a few clues about what’s to come. Unfortunately, they also raise a few questions. Here are four things we’d like to know about the fourth film in the PA series.Who is Alex?
The trailer for Paranormal Activity 4 introduces us to Alex, a teen girl who lives with her mother (and possibly others) in a large house. But who is she, exactly? And why is the creepy kid so interested in her home? The alternate trailer shows the kid lurking around outside and creeping through darkened rooms at night. It seems odd that he would be so interested in a random teenage girl. Unless…

Is There a Connection?
In Paranormal Activity 1-3, the demon terrifies Katie, Kristy, and members of their household. However, in Paranormal Activity 4, the demon turns its attention to Alex, a seemingly uninvolved outsider. Why? Though the digression may be nothing more than plot convenience, it’s possible Alex is connected to Katie and Kristy somehow. Perhaps she’s a distant relative or perhaps she’s tied to the coven of witches. A connection is plausible, especially since the alternate trailer shows the witches' symbol etched into the floor of Alex’s home.

Who is the Creepy Kid?
Of course, the connection theory assumes the kid in the trailer is Hunter, the baby demon-Katie kidnapped in Paranormal Activity 2. However, nothing’s certain. That said, it’s highly unlikely the creepy kid is some random boy, plus the timeline fits. So if it is Hunter, who exactly is he living with? A foster family? Katie? The witches? In one scene, a freaky shadow person appears behind Alex. The shadow kind of looks like Katie, if you ask me.

How Many Scenes in the Trailer Will Make Into PA4?
Don’t get too excited about the creepy scenes, however, because hardly any of the stuff in the PA3 trailer made it into the actual movie. That includes the shadow woman from the Bloody Mary scene and the house fire, just to name a couple. As frustrating as it is for fans, there’s no way of knowing what, if any scenes from the trailer, will make it into Paranormal Activity 4.

Paranormal Activity 4 opens in theaters on October 19th. Visit Paranormal Movie for more information and to vote for your city to receive an early release.
