Penelope Ann Miller of "The Artist" on Director Michel Hazanavicius, Her Costars Jean Dujardin and Uggie the Dog
Penelope Ann Miller, who played Doris in The Artist, talked to StarCam's Jennifer Tapiero at the ACE Eddie Awards about how proud she is of the film.
"It's really unbelievable, because not only are we surprised that people actually are seeing a silent black and white film, but also that we're being nominated and winning awards and getting so many accolades and so much love," she said.
Once she noticed that director Michel Hazanavicius was standing next to her, she couldn't help but gush about how great it was working with him.
"He's a genius, what can I say? I was very lucky, very blessed, very honored, I'm very proud," she beamed. "If it wasn't for his great directing, great writing, great editing, this movie wouldn't work."
But making The Artist work had a lot to do with the actors too of course and Miller admitted that she was slightly nervous about doing a silent movie.
"It was a little bit scary at first, but I had great actors to play opposite," she explained. "I had Jean Dujardin, who's a true movie star and a true gentleman, and I had Uggie the dog!"
Miller also mentioned the Oscars, saying she has never been to that awards show and she's very excited to be going this year and "representin'" for The Artist!
