Publicist Rosalind Jarrett, Actress JoBeth Williams on How Hard Publicists' Jobs Really Are
Rosalind Jarrett was nominated at the ICG Publicist Awards and actress JoBeth Williams was there to support her. They stopped to chat with StarCam's Aiden Simko about the event.
"It's wonderful to be honored by your peers. I work with JoBeth on the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which of course is actors voting for actors. In this case, it's publicists voting for publicists. Only publicists know how hard we work to do our jobs," said Rosalind, who was up for the Les Mason Award.
Then JoBeth spoke up to disagree.
"Well, that's not entirely true," she said. "As an actor, I know how hard you work, and since I work with you on the SAG Awards show. She is one of the most brilliant and one of the most hardworking publicists, so I'm here supporting her today."
Aiden then asked the ladies why a publicist's job can be so challenging.
"I think it's finding the balance between the needs of the actors, the needs of the producers, the need of the media," Rosalind said. "My job as a publicity executive is to make your job easier, to make the media's job easier, to make the publicists job easier, and it's hard to do."
"And to take care of the actors," JoBeth added. "Which is also, as we all know, can be hard to do."
Did the ladies have any Oscar predictions to share?
"Never predict. Never predict," Rosalind repeated for emphasis. "I predict that it's gonna be a great show and we're gonna all love tuning in and I hope I win the pool."
