Scott Porter on Not Partying in College, His Advice to Aspiring Actors
Scott Porter, actor from Friday Night Lights and Hart of Dixie, shared a little bit about his college life with StarCam's Jennifer Tapiero at the College Television Awards. Unlike most college students, Scott focused on family rather than partying.
"I was a stay-at-home babysitter for my parents basically when I was going to college," he explains. "I lived right around the corner from my folks, I went to college at the University of Central Florida, my family lived in Orlando at the time ? I didn't have time to party."
So what advice would he give to college students looking to break into show business?
"Don't be afraid to say yes," he says. "I'm a faith-based decision maker and when opportunities come along, a lot of people freeze or get scared of them, I just would nod my head and say 'Yes, I'll do it, let's see where it goes' 'cause life's all about the stories."
Since he was such a focused, hard worker in school, Jen wondered if he keeps that same discipline now on set.
"I'm the number one prankster on set and I'm a nerd," Scott says. "I have an Xbox in my trailer, I'm always joking around; I'm like a kid."
