Silverchair?s Daniel Johns Co-Writes Short Film

Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has reportedly co-written a short film that has, so far, secured $30,000 in funding. Johns co-wrote the project My Mind’s Own Melody with actor and writer Josh Wakely.
My Mind’s Own Melody is described as being a short musical drama and is one of seven short films to receive a government grant. Johns and Wakely secured the funding as part of the 2010 Screen New South Wales (NSW) Emerging Filmmakers Fund.
Since it was established 15 years ago, the Emerging Filmmakers Fund has given grants totaling $3 million to 130 NSW film crews and their projects.
Films produced under the fund have had more than 1000 local and international festival screenings, including screenings in Cannes, Los Angeles, Berlin, London, Tokyo, New York, and Barcelona,, and have received more than 200 awards and nominations.
Other projects that received funding this year are Suspended (Damian Walshe-Howling/Lisa Shaunessy), Lie Softly (Paola Morabito/Tara Riddell), A Cautionary Tail (Simon Rippingdale/Erica Harrison), Great Western (Tanya Goldberg/Trent Bartfield/Rachel Antony), Spirit-Ed (Peter Mether/Shannon Wilson), and Letter Tape (Mitzi Goldman/Rowena Crowe).
