Sources Say Lindsay Lohan "Devastated" By Bad Reviews of "Liz & Dick"
Lindsay Lohan hasn't been onscreen in quite some time now, so it's not surprising that her latest film, Liz & Dick, which aired on Lifetime this weekend, drew some pretty harsh criticism. The Hollywood Reporter compared it to a skit on Saturday Night Live, and The New York Times opined that Lohan was "sleepwalking through scenes." Needless to say, Lohan is none too pleased by these criticisms, and sources say the actress is "devastated."
The movie was thought to be a potential comeback for Lohan, who has spent the past several years in and out of trouble with the law. Unfortunately, after all the bad reviews, it's enough to make anyone wonder if she'll ever act seriously again—doing a Lifetime movie isn't exactly a great comeback.
A friend of Lohan's told The Huffington Post, "Lindsay is devastated by the response to the film. She has got used to all the negative press around her personal life, but this is the first time she has experienced it about her work. No matter how bad things were going for her personally, everyone would always agree that she was a great actress."
The thing is, Lohan hasn't been very actively acting in the past several years, so what would the press be saying about her acting anyway?
Not everyone is agreeing with the bad reviews, though—Lohan's father, Michael, said her performance proved that she is "right up there with Meryl Streep." We'll let you digest that statement for a second.
Michael Lohan said, "Due to the content, I had to step away from a lot of the scenes, but regardless of what some of these so-called critics, who don't have an ounce of talent in their bones, say, Lindsay proved that she is an amazing actress. She still has what it takes to be the Lindsay Lohan that is one of Hollywood's top actresses."
Neither Lindsay's spokesperson nor Lifetime commented on the matter.
