Taylor Lautner, Dwayne Johnson In Talks to Play David and Goliath

Twilight’s Taylor Lautner and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have reportedly received offers to star in Goliath, an upcoming film based on the well-known Bible story.

At 6’5” and 250 pounds, The Rock is a good choice for Goliath, a fearsome giant with a thirst for blood. Lautner would play David, a shepherd boy who must take down the menacing giant to save the lives of his people and those he holds dear. No word on if the actors have accepted the roles.

Scott Derrickson will reportedly direct the film, backed by Relativity Media and Temple Entertainment, while Ryan Kavanaugh, Wyck Godfrey, and Marty Bowen will serve as producers.

Here’s how Heat Vision (via Hollywood Reporter) describes the plot of Goliath:

“The story is set in motion when the fierce warrior Goliath is sent to track down a foretold king of the Israelites. A young shepherd David is thrust into an epic chase and adventure fighting for his own life, the lives of his loved ones and eventually the lives of his people. The story climaxes in a battle of literal Biblical proportions between the young man and the giant sent to destroy him.”

What do you think about Lautner and Johnson playing David and Goliath? If the movie is a big hit, perhaps Hollywood will begin making more movies inspired by the Bible.
