Taylor Swift Named ACM Entertainer of the Year

Taylor Swift was named entertainer of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, which were held yesterday in Las Vegas.

Swift, who has made quite the name for herself in the past few years, said, “This is the first time that I’ve ever won this, and I’m just losing my mind.” She thanked her fans for voting for her, as presenter Ryan Seacrest said that the award had received the most votes ever cast in the category. She was up against Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, and Keith Urban for the fan-voted award.

Brad Paisley was named male vocalist of the year, and Lady Antebellum took home awards for top vocal group and album of the year for Need You Now. Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley joked while accepting and award, “Thank you, Miranda Lambert, for winning this last year and not being in the category this year!”

Kelley’s joke refers to the relative sweep Lambert had on the awards, nabbing five honors, including female vocalist of the year. Her single “The House That Built Me” earned wins for song of the year, single record of the year, and video of the year. Lambert was nominated for a total of seven awards at the ceremony.

The show was hosted by Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire and took place at the MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
