Earlier this week, Peter Jackson unveiled a song from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and today, the entire album is available for fans to listen to, thanks to Empire.
The film hits theaters December 13, and is expected to be a pretty big hit.
Howard Shore composed the soundtrack, as he worked on the
Lord of the Rings trilogy's soundtrack as well. The new soundtrack sounds similar to that work, which makes sense since The Hobbit is related to the
Lord of the Rings (being set in Middle Earth and all), and there are new themes for some of the film's characters as well.
The soundtrack will be on store shelves in December 10, but is available for preorder now. The widget on Empire doesn't allow for skipping tracks, but we can't see why you'd want to—the whole thing is good tunes.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters, as mentioned, on December 13 this year and stars some old faves like Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee, and Martin Freeman, as well as some newcomers like Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the Necromancer.
The Hobbit "Part 2" (no official title just yet) is expected in theaters in 2013—we'll be on the edge of our seat for that one, too. In the meantime,
listen to the soundtrack here.
