TRANS4M 2013: will.i.am Hosts, Bill Clinton Speaks, Alicia Keys Performs

Last year, will.i.am's inaugural Trans4mation benefit concert raised over $5 million for programs in Boyle Heights, his hometown in East Los Angeles. The invitation-only conference encouraged participants to accelerate new thinking and find solutions to chronic problems in the community.
Next Thursday, he'll host the conference and concert event once again but with slight changes.
"This year, 'TRANS4M 2013: TRANS4Ming America' will focus on teaming businesses, non-profits, volunteers, and new technologies together to drive positive change in communities across the United States through education, the right STEAM skills and training, and a focus on the wellness of the people who live there," will.i.am said.
STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and math, while the number four in the events' names represents the four pillars and driving forces involved in improving the state of chronic societal problems: business, government, non-profits and community volunteers.
This year's conference will be held at the California Science Center and will feature remarkable guest speakers such as President Bill Clinton. Another highlight is the VIP breakfast gathering under the Space Shuttle Endeavour with remarks by Astronaut and NASA Associate Administrator for Education Leland Melvin.
After all that brain power, participants can loosen their ties a little as Alicia Keys headlines the benefit concert at The Avalon Hollywood. Proceeds from the concert will be donated to i.am.angel foundation to fund its programmatic activities, such as i.am.STEAM, i.am.home and i.am.wellness, which focus on STEAM education, home ownership and financial literacy, and healthy lifestyles.
