Weekend Box Office Round-Up: April 1-3, 2011

It seems like any time there’s a family-friendly film opening, it is guaranteed to nab the top spot at the box office. Such was the case this weekend, as HOP took number one after earning $38 million in ticket sales. Let’s find out what else made the top ten!

Source Code came in second place, earning just over $15 million. In third place was the thriller Insidious, which earned $13.4 million. Fourth place went to Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, which earned $10.2 million.

Fifth place went to Limitless, which earned $9.4 million over the weekend, bringing its cumulative revenue to $55.6 million.

The Lincoln Lawyer took sixth place and earned $7 million, and Sucker Punch followed in seventh place with $6 million.

Rounding out the top ten this weekend were Rango in eighth place, earning $4.6 million, which boosted its total earnings to an impressive $113.7 million. In ninth place was Paul, having earned $4.3 million, and tenth place went to Sony’s Battle: Los Angeles, which pulled in $3.5 million over the weekend.
