?Wilfred? Makes Its FX Debut

Last night, FX introduced a comedy hour consisting of two shows: newcomer Wilfred, which stars Elijah Wood and Jason Gann, and Louie, which is in its second season and stars comedian Louis C.K.
Although Wilfred has received mixed reviews, most are positive, comparing the comedy to shows like Arrested Development and implying it’s a lovechild between, say, Chuck Palahniuk and Seth MacFarlane.
Wilfred is an American version of an Australian sitcom, co-created by Jason Gann – who plays the title character. Wilfred is a guy in a dog costume – or at least that’s what he appears to be to us and Wood’s character, Ryan. To everyone else in the show, he is just a dog (no guy). He’s a snarky character who urges Ryan to smoke pot with him, and often Ryan obliges. It’s a snappy comedy that animal lovers are sure to enjoy.
Louie, on the other hand, is the brain child of Louis C.K., a show in which he basically plays himself – a single guy and a parent. In addition to starring, C.K. also writes, directs, and edits the show.
It makes sense, since Elijah Wood is a bigger star than Louis C.K., to program Wilfred before Louie, as Louie’s first-season ratings weren’t all that great -- but hopefully, it will attract some of Wilfred’s fans and make a turnaround.
Do you guys watch these shows? What did you think of the premiere?
